Report Writing for Corrections

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with a practical understanding of the importance of report writing in corrections.  Those attending will gain useful techniques to write complete, clear, concise and accurate reports.

  • Define what a report is
  • Understand (3) reasons for a well written report
  • Identify various types of corrections reports
  • Corrections officers’ responsibility in writing reports
  • Importance of accuracy in report writing

 

Instructor:  Sgt. Timothy McGuckin is a 13 year veteran with the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office. He has been an instructor with the LEORTC and LERTA academies for over 10 years as well as an adjunct professor for Kirtland Community College.  Sgt. McGuckin is a firearms, chemical aerosol and master Taser Instructor.  He is a member of the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator and Sheriff’s office underwater recovery dive team.

Cost:              LEORTC Licensed Members – Prepaid

LEORTC Non-Licensed Personnel – $35 p/p

Non-Member Agencies – $60 p/p
