Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety for Law Enforcement

May 4, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

***Hybrid Training***

How can you identify legal vs. illegal behavior by motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians – and make sure you are traveling safely and within the law? The League of Michigan Bicyclists is offering a hybrid session of Bike & Pedestrian Safety Education, a newly updated version of its educational program for law enforcement professionals.

  • Learn Michigan’s laws related to bicycle and pedestrian use of the roadways
  • Learn how to accurately report bicycle and pedestrian-involved crashes using the UD-10 form
  • Explore new approaches to traffic safety through data and reimagining traditional practices through the lens of equity, empathy and ethics in transportation
  • Receive MCOLES credit for their participation

After this session, you’ll be ready to educate and enforce bicycle and pedestrians’ law correctly when on duty, and help your friends and family drive, ride, walk and wheel safely off duty.

InstructorErin Sloan-Turner is the Education Coordinator for the League of Michigan Bicyclists. Prior to working at LMB Erin worked as the Program Manager for Open Roads Bike Program in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has grown her passion for cycling in the past 16 years, and lead cycling groups of campers from ages 13-15 along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Erin holds a Master’s of Science in Recreation and Youth Development from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications from Eastern Michigan University.
