The purpose of this class is to provide police officers, detectives, prosecutors and CPS investigators with a better understanding of the dynamics involved in sexual assaultive crimes.
This seminar will give first responders and investigators a better understanding of how to properly respond to, and investigate, sex crimes. The primary focus of this training will be on adult sexual assaults. Participants will learn the importance of the initial response, how trauma can affect the victim’s behavior and memory, what evidence to look for, the importance of avoiding assumptions, sex offender typologies and strategies for investigating the offender.

Instructor: Sergeant James Twardesky of Twardesky Consulting serves with the Warren Police Department Special Victims Investigative Unit. Sergeant Twardesky has conducted hundreds of investigations involving sex crimes & crimes against children. He is an adjunct Law Enforcement faculty at Macomb Community College and teaches undergraduate level criminal justice courses, online & in-person as a Macomb Criminal Justice Center Instructor having develop & taught in-service advanced police training courses.
