The purpose of this class to provide police officers, detectives, prosecutors and CPS investigators with a better understanding of the dynamics involved in sexual assaultive crimes.
This seminar will give first responders and investigators a better understanding of how to properly respond to, and investigate, sex crimes. The primary focus of this training will be on adult sexual assaults. Participants will learn the importance of the initial response, how trauma can affect the victim’s behavior and memory, what evidence to look for, the importance of avoiding assumptions, sex offender typologies and strategies for investigating the offender.

Instructor: Detective James Twardesky, Warren Police Department Special Victims Investigative Unit. He has conducted hundreds of investigations involving sex crimes & crimes against children. Detective Twardesky is an adjunct Law Enforcement faculty at Macomb Community College and teaches undergraduate level criminal justice courses, online & in-person as a Macomb Criminal Justice Center Instructor having develop & taught in-service advanced police training courses.
